In Genshin Impact Cleansing Defilement is task Inazuma and the third stage of the massive Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual quest chain. To pass it, you have to remove barriers, solving various puzzles with lanterns and cubes. If you're having trouble completing these tasks, check out our guide.
How to start the quest "Cleansing Defilement"
You will be able to take on its passage as soon as you complete the mission "Sacrificial Offering". It should immediately appear in your quest log. If this does not happen, then try re-entering the game, having previously logged out of your account.
Complete the Purification Ritual of the Sacred Cherry Blossom
To complete this task, you will need to find and remove 3 barriers located on different parts of Narukami Island. Below we'll show you where to find them and how to solve the puzzles to remove them.
Hurdle in Tinju Forest
Go to the location indicated in the screenshot below. There you will hear strange sounds. After that, a new quest called "Hayashi from Tanuki in the Forest". It is within it that you can remove this Hurdle. We have described this episode in another article, so we will not consider it again.
The Hurdle at the Kamisato estate
Head to the location shown in the screenshots below. There you will see a statue of a medium fox, next to which there will be a small luminous fox figurine. You need to look at it through the Memento Lens tool (Z key).
After that, a large Heavenly Kitsune Statue will appear. Attack her with any Electro skill. If you don't have the character you want, then resonate Traveler with the Statue of the Seven Archons on Inazuma to get the required element. Next, take under the paws of a stone statue Key-Shaped Ward.
Then head to the islet northeast of your current location. On it, find the statues of 3 medium foxes forming a circle. In the center in the recess will be a small figurine of a fox. Look at her through the lens of memories.
The figurine will disappear and the entrance to the cave will appear instead. Below, by the way, hangs Electroculus which you can collect. Jump down. There will be a strong concentration of Electro here, so your characters will gradually decrease in health. You can prevent this by collecting Electro Granums. They do not last very long, but this parameter can be increased by increasing Sacred Sakura’s Favor.
Keep going down until you reach a lantern puzzle. Go to the first lamp and select the "Clear" function using the previously selected Ward. Next, start placing the lanterns in the order shown in the figure, changing the number of commas hanging above the poles.
The one in the center is left with 1 comma. At the one located behind it, we indicate 2 commas. The one to the right of the central one has 3 commas. For the one that is in front of the central one, select 2 commas. At the end, go to the lantern, standing in front and to the left of the central one, and set 3 commas on it.
Now go to the first pillar and pray next to it. 2 Ochimushi will appear immediately, which will need to be killed. When you deal with him, you will completely destroy the Hurdle.
Hurdle in Araumi
Go to the Araumi location. Here you will need to get into the cave in which the Domain Entrance is located "The Empty Boat of a Thousand Gates". To do this, you have to unlock the console in the form of a cube, located next to the dilapidated tower (see screenshots).
It will be necessary to interact with 4 Electro monuments located nearby (shown on the map with asterisks).
Near one of the monuments, you will need to complete a small puzzle by turning the stone cubes so that they all start to glow. First, shoot the upper right stone twice. Next, shoot the upper left stone twice so that it and the central one glow. A rich chest will spawn nearby and you can activate the Electro Pillar.
Next to another monument, you need to destroy several enemies. The remaining two can be activated without any additional conditions. Next, interact with the cube console, which we told you about a little earlier.
Now you can climb into the dilapidated tower. Jump down. There you will find a precious chest and 3 fox figurines. Look at each one with the lens of memory. Pressure plates will appear on the walls. Click on all of them. As a result, a passage to the dungeon will open. Before you go down there, take an Electrograna.
However, if you didn’t pick up the spirit, then just look down at the stone fox through the lens of memories so that sakura branches with an electro-granum appear nearby. Use it to get through the electric Hurdle. Next, attack the Celestial Kitsune Statue with an Electro skill to activate it and collect the Scroll-Shaped Ward.
Go back through the Hurdle again. Approach the first lantern and select the "Clear" option. Again, put the lamps in the correct order in accordance with the prompt. The screenshot below shows how many commas should be placed on each of the columns.
Note that the rear lights will not be available. To unlock them, you need to study the figurines of chanterelles through the lens of memories. After specifying the desired values, go to the first lantern and pray. Otimusya will appear, which will need to be killed. Then listen to the conversation with Paimon.
The mission will end and you will be rewarded with 500 Adventure Points, 60 Source Stones, 5 Hero XP, 50,000 Mora, and 8 Enchant Magic Ore. The next task in the chain called "Cleansing Him".
