In Resident Evil (2023), upgrading weapons is done by modifying them with various parts and increasing the base stats in the store. In this guide, we will tell you how to find all the upgrades for your arsenal and increase the parameters of any weapon, including with the help of exclusive perks.
Associated with weapon upgrades are the "My Favorite Weapon" and "Masterpiece" achievements.
Note: Information on finding all weapons in the game can be found in our other material.
All weapon parts in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Total exists 7 weapon parts, and in addition to the Biosensor Scope, they are all sold at the merchant. Each detail is suitable for improving certain types of weapons, adding a new way to use them, or simply improving current characteristics.
Biosensor Scope
Let's start with the modification, which must be found on the map in chapter 13. This location is located south of the freezer on the left side of the building and requires a Level 2 Keycard to open the door.
Aiming with the biosensor sight resembles an x-ray and allows you to conveniently highlight the silhouettes of enemies. Compatible with SR M1903, CQBR, Skat and LE 5 rifles.
The remaining modifiers are sold in the store and their purpose is quite clear: stocks increase accuracy and accuracy of fire, sights simplify aiming through optics or target illumination with a laser.
Detail | Merchant's price | Compatibility |
---|---|---|
Aim | 4000 coins chapter 2 | SR M1903, CQBR, Skat and LE 5 |
laser sight | 10 spinels chapter 2 | SG-09 R, The Punisher |
Stock for TMP | 8 spinels chapter 4 | TMP |
Powerful sight | 7 spinels chapter 4 | SR M1903, CQBR, Skat and LE 5 |
Lodge for Red9 | 9 spinels, chapter 6 | Red9 |
Lodge for Matilda | 12 spinels | Matilda |
Spinels are issued primarily for completing merchant orders.
Improving weapon parameters
With each visit to the store, you will have the opportunity to upgrade the parameters of your weapons. The four main characteristics include:
Parameter | Description | A priority |
---|---|---|
Force | Increases damage from each shot. | Always a priority: the faster you deal with the enemy, the less ammo and reloads will be needed. |
Ammunition | Increases the amount of ammo in a clip. | Important for shotguns and rifles. The lower the initial ammunition, the more important it is to increase it as soon as possible. |
Recharge | Speeds up the clip change procedure. | Similar to ammo, reload should be increased where it is initially too long and causes discomfort when using a weapon. |
rate of fire | Decreases the pause between shots. | Significantly increases the overall damage from pistols and crossbows, upgrade as needed. |
Thus, in addition to attack power, other parameters should be improved according to your playing style. Focus on combat experience with the weapon bundles you use. If you are regularly retreating to reload, then increase the ammo of magazines, and then reload. Improve those weapon characteristics that compensate for its weaknesses.
Knife upgrade
Special attention deserves a knife that you can use to parry enemy attacks, stealth kills and when fighting captures. For him, first of all, increase strength, which will allow you to use the dagger more often, saving ammo for firearms.
Primal Knife is a bonus weapon with infinite durability (when fully upgraded). Available, smashing all clockwork keepers.
Weapon Upgrade Priority
For the first half of the game (approximately 1-6 chapters), we advise you to first improve the starting knife and Leon's SG-09R pistol, and, if necessary, the W870 shotgun.
Note: if the deluxe edition is available, the Strazh-9 pistol will be an alternative, which can also be used from the very beginning.
Starting from chapter 7, you can shift the priority to Blacktail, its improved version is very balanced, and among other things it has the ability to stun enemies, allowing you to attack in melee.
As a heavy weapon from the middle of the game, we recommend upgrading the CQBR assault rifle and the police rifle (or the Striker, they are both good).
First of all, we are talking about a universal weapon worthy of consistent improvement during the first passage. Magnums, such as Dead Butterfly, are good for fighting bosses, but there is absolutely no need to immediately pump them to the maximum.
Exclusive weapon perks
Exclusive Perks are unique for each weapon and open after paying for the final upgrade. There are two ways to access the Exclusive Upgrade:
- by improving all weapon parameters to the limit (available starting from chapter 9) and paying a certain amount in the base game currency (below is the cost table);
- use the "Exclusive Upgrade Ticket", which can be purchased from the merchant starting from Chapter 7 for 30 spinels (after that, the second one will appear in the assortment, already for 40 spinels).
You can save a lot by using a "ticket" for an exclusive weapon upgrade, the rest of the parameters of which you do not want to fully upgrade. For example, you can use it to upgrade the Dead Butterfly, which is only bought from an increase in attack power, which will give an even larger damage modifier for situational use on bosses. For an exclusive perk of a weapon that you already upgrade to the limit, you can simply pay with ordinary coins.
Note: on professional difficulty (unlocked after the first playthrough), exclusive upgrades are available from the very beginning of the game.
