In Sons of the Forest, the pistol is a firearm with which you can effectively fend off cannibals and mutants or arm your companion. You can also upgrade it by finding a mount, a silencer, a laser sight, and a flashlight. In this guide, we will tell you where to find this weapon and all the upgrades to it, as well as how to get ammo.
Where to find the pistol in Sons of the Forest
Note that on the island you can find two pistols at once. You can then transfer the extra trunk Virginia.
First pistol
You can find it almost at the very beginning of the game, as it is located near the coast in the western part of the island. The screenshots below show the space you need. When you reach the indicated shore, you will see a red inflatable boat ahead. By the way, in your GPS-navigator, it will be marked with a purple exclamation mark.
You can only get to the boat by swimming, as there is no water transport in the game. On one of its sides there will be a ladder that you can use to climb onto the raft. We recommend that you do this as quickly as possible, as sharks often swim near this object (save before getting into the water). If you let them attack and kill you, you will unlock the trophy "Need a Bigger Boat".
Climbing onto the boat, you will find signal lights, dry rations, a GPS radar and a gun here. You can try out your new weapon on the shark swimming around the raft. If you do not want to waste precious cartridges, then use an ordinary bow against the sea predator.
Second pistol
You can find it much later, as it is hidden in a bunker located in the southeastern part of the island. Plus, you will need staff key card. Having obtained a card, head to the indicated area and reach a small rock located near the lake. On its western side you will see the entrance to the cave.
Squeeze inside and start going down the tunnel. Then jump into the hole and you will find yourself in a bunker. Go around the pile of rocks and enter the open door. You will see two stairs: one goes up and the other goes down. Select the second and go down to the lower level. Here you will find a locked door that requires a staff keycard to unlock.
After opening the door, turn right and continue down. Open the yellow door and watch a small cut-scene with a monster. When it's over, go forward to the next room, and then turn into the room on the right.
You can find a lot of interesting things in this room, so study it well. For example, next to the worker's body lies the weapon you are looking for, its mount and cartridges, and on the table on the right you can find an accessory that allows you to attach a flashlight to the gun.
Note: At the same time, the hero can have no more than one pistol with him, so before you go for the second weapon, hand over the barrel you have to Virginia.
Rope gun
We are talking about a rope thrower, with which you can install a zipline (rope) between two objects, such as trees or rocks, which allows you to quickly move above the ground, bypassing encounters with mutants and cannibals. You can find this tool in the southwestern part of the island. We talked in detail about getting it in separate guide.
Where to find body kits for a pistol
You can improve your weapon by finding a couple of useful modules for it. However, before that, you will need to find special mounts. Below we will indicate the location of all these items.
Where is the gun mount
Find first mount can be on the coast, where you previously came to find a gun. The exact location is shown in the screenshots below. Move to the stones on the shore, and you will find a corpse here, near which lies the item you need. You will also find some weapon ammo.
For finding second mount you will have to go deep into the island, going to its southwestern part. There you will find a helicopter overgrown with greenery. Find the black case lying near the tail of the rotorcraft, and take the little thing you need from it.
To install the pistol mount, open inventory and select both items, then click on the gear. Now you can attach additional modules to weapons: a flashlight and a laser sight.
Where to find a silencer
Find first silencer you can in the same location where you found the second mount, that is, next to the helicopter covered with plants. It lies in the second black case, located closer to the cockpit of the rotorcraft. Note that you can install it on the gun without mounting.
For finding second muffler you have to get first shovel. After that, go to the place located in the southwestern part of the island and shown in the screenshots below. There is an excavation site near the open coffins and cars. Use the shovel to dig a hatch into the bunker.
Go down to the shelter, go forward along the corridor and turn into the right room. Approach the table in the far part of the room, and you will find a silencer on it. It will lie next to the 3D Printer and Handgun Ammo. We add that in the bathroom you can find a compound bow.
Now open your inventory, select the silencer and pistol, and then combine them by clicking on the gear.
How to find a flashlight accessory
You can find him near a dead body that you can stumble upon while searching for a shovel. The detailed itinerary is discussed in our separate guide. Mounting is required to install this fixture.
Where to find the laser sight
It's hidden in the same bunker as the staff keycard, meaning you'll have to dig into it first. The pictures below show the correct location.
Then go down the stairs, go forward along the corridor and enter the room on the right side. Approach the table to the left of the 3D printer and you will find the item you need on it. By the way, if you go straight ahead and deal with the baby mutants, then find the 3D resin needed to create the arrows.
Where to find pistol ammo
We have already noted above that ammunition for a pistol often lies near improvements to it. There are several similar places, the location of which can be seen in the screenshot below. Use interactive map for faster search of the desired locations.
We add that these cartridges are also randomly are generated in boxes, chests, cases and containers, so their location often depends on randomness. So we can only advise you to carefully examine all the vaults when exploring the island.
How to dupe ammo (infinite)
As such, there is no ammo dupe in Sons of the Forest, but there is still a way to get an almost infinite number of bullets. First of all, find a shelter, a bunker, or any other location where you have the ammo you need (see the map above).
Then set up a camp nearby (if there is no bed in this place), collect all the ammunition, create a save and exit from the main menu. Load the created save and you will find that all the bullets have recovered again. You can repeat doing this any number of times. Naturally, you can also use codes for infinite ammo.
