In Sons of the Forest, the Golden Armor and Mask are essential pieces of equipment to help you progress through the game and protect yourself from cannibal attacks. In this guide, we will tell you where to find these items and how exactly they can be used.

Where is the golden armor
It is hidden in a bunker located in the northeastern part of the island, that is, on the opposite side from the hero's possible spawn site, so getting here at the very beginning of the game will not work. In addition, you will first need to get guest key card and good equipment, as you will have to fight strong mutants inside.
Head to the area shown in the screenshots above and reach a small rocky area next to the lake. On its western side at the foot you will find a gap leading to a cave - climb into it.
Start going down the tunnel. Then jump into the hole and you will find yourself in a bunker. Go around the pile of rocks and enter the open door. You will see two stairs: one goes up and the other goes down. Select the second and go down to the lower level. Here you will find a closed door, which requires a card to unlock (if you are playing the unpatched version, then you will most likely need staff key card ).
After opening the door, turn right and continue down. Open the yellow door and watch a small cut-scene with a monster. When it's over, go forward to the next room. Here you have to fight with various mutants, so get ready for the battle in advance.
Go to the third room, enter the passage ahead, turn left and go down the stairs again to the 2nd level. You will find yourself in a new room. Go through it to the second room, and there already turn into the second passage to the right. Move forward and enter the apartments. Here on the couch you will find a set of golden armor. Nearby, by the way, hidden katana.
What is the golden armor for?
Despite the big name and gold coloration of the armor indicator, there is no increased protection against wearing golden armor you won't get. At the same time, we are not talking about a decorative appearance, that is, when using this set, any other clothes will be removed from your hero.
Why then do you need golden armor? The fact is that only in it you can open a strange door with a hand in the final bunker, which will need to be done to advance the story. Thus, this set is more of a quest item than a full-fledged armor, so we do not recommend wearing them on an ongoing basis.

Where to find the golden mask
It can be found in the same hideout as the golden armor. After finding the appropriate set on level 2, exit the room and turn right. When you reach the landing, immediately turn left and go down the stairs even lower. Then turn into the left passage to get to the 5th level.
Move forward along the long corridor. After reaching the locked double doors, turn into the left passage. Enter the room and take the golden mask, which will lie on the central operating table.
How to use the golden mask
After obtaining this item, open your inventory, select the mask and take it in your hand. Now if you hold LMB, the hero will press this little thing to his face. Why do it? The fact is that when wearing a mask, cannibals will not attack you, considering you a member of the tribe.
However, if the natives see you without a mask and attack, then putting it on again does not make sense, as they will continue to attack you anyway, as they will understand that you are an impostor. In general, this item allows you to avoid collisions with large groups of cannibals, if you notice them in advance and have time to put on a mask.
What is the difference between a red mask and a gold one
The red mask is also able to ward off the natives from you. But only ordinary cannibals will stop attacking you. If you meet elite warriors (giants with golden masks), they will still attack you. Gold allows you to protect yourself even from them.
