In Genshin Impact Praetorians are a separate group of elite monsters from which you can knock out broken, splintered and undying hilts, necessary for pumping up some types of weapons. In this guide you will learn where to find these enemies and how to defeat them. We'll also tell you where to buy and how to craft the materials they drop.

    How to defeat the Praetorian

    Praetorian characteristics

This is an elite enemy, also called the Golem Guardian. He has 10% resistance to all types of damage, including physical, so in theory you can use any damage dealers to fight him, but we advise you to take a closer look at Geo fighters using a two-handed sword due to the strong Geo defense of the enemy.

In terms of its stats, it is roughly comparable to other elite enemies such as Xuanwen Beasts and Rogue Hilichurls in terms of health and attack. You can see all the parameters of the guard in the image below (2P, 3P and 4P show the parameters when playing in co-op).

    Optimal characters and teams

Praetorians have a strong Geo-shield, so to quickly break through it, it is recommended to use Geo-damagers or wielders of a two-handed sword. You can try to strengthen the attacks of the latter using the Shattered reaction (occurs when a frozen enemy is hit with a claymore or falls).

However, you can easily use characters of any other elements if you have them well pumped, since these opponents do not have increased resistance to any element. The table below shows the best squad options.

    Praetorian attacks

All types of attacks from these mobs inflict Pyro damage.

    Double punch

The enemy swings his sword twice to his left and right.

    Triple Strike

The mob spins the weapon around itself three times. To recognize this attack and distinguish it from the previous one, pay attention to the sword: at the beginning of this series of attacks, the Praetorian's weapon lights up.

    Hit the ground

If you are far from the Praetorian, he will raise his weapon above himself, run towards you and hit the ground.

    Fire Shot

Another ranged attack, the Praetorian's sword bursts into flames, after which the monster fires a burning blade in front of it.

    fire field

The Praetorian Golem inserts the weapon into the ground, after which a ring of fire appears on it. It deals small damage 7 times, and the last, eighth time the damage is doubled. The field will usually appear directly below you, but you will always have a second or two to run away and dodge the attack.

The Praetorian's Noelle: Protector gives him +50% to all types of resistance, so the fastest way to defeat the mob is to knock down the defense with heavy attacks. These include almost all Geo attacks, any attacks with a two-handed sword, reactions "Elemental Reaction: Overloaded" and "Shattered", as well as explosions (like bombs Klee, many attacks Yanfei, ultimates Eimii ). By destroying a mob's Noelle: Protector , you will paralyze it for 8 seconds and reduce all types of resistance to normal values.

Where to find Praetorians in Genshin Impact

These monsters live in a region called the Sea of Ancient, which was added to the game With You the release of update 4.6. As a rule, they roam alone, but always be prepared to fight two or three such opponents at once. We also recommend keeping it before your eyes interactive map of Fontaine to better navigate the area.

For convenience, you can also track the Praetorians in your Adventurer's Handbook.

Note that before the quest "The Shadow Over Petrichor" a series "Canticles of Harmony" you will not be able to get to the desired locations, and the only Praetorian Golem on the surface will be motionless, and it will be impossible to fight with him.

    Petrichor

The first mob can be found in the above quest "The Shadow Over Petrichor". It is located south of the dungeon "Faded Theater", in ruins In the Mountains, and guarded by the rich box. Apparently, you can only defeat him once, after which he will disappear forever.

    Dilapidated castle

One of the mobs in this area is behind the first mysterious shelf, which can be opened with lost grimoire.

The next monster is hiding behind another shelf and guarding an amazing chest. For detailed information on how to get to your destination, see in our guide under the third point.

The next Praetorian Golem guards the entrance to the arena Golem Legate and is located a little west of the teleport.

One mob can be found on the way to the room with lost scores, southwest of the middle teleporter.

Having passed further into the room with scores, go behind the first mysterious shelf and go up the stairs - here you will find precious chest and 3 more monsters.

There are 4 more mobs marked on the interactive map, but you can only meet them once, during the quest "Underwater Nocturne". They are located on a large area in the eastern part of the location.

    Sea of antiquity

Two Praetorians can be found in Caesarium, a little north of the teleport.

In the cave to the east of Caesarium - you can swim there from the nearest teleportation point - there are 2 more golems.

Quite a lot of mobs live in the port of Anticus. The first of them can be found south of the teleport, if you move towards the exit of the cave.

Two more praetorians guard the passage to the amazing chest ( in our guide it can be found under point 7).

One mob is located next to recording of a symphony called "Great Sovereign", in the eastern part of the location.

The interactive map shows two more golems in the southern part of the location, but you cannot fight them - you meet them in the quest "The Last Day of Remuria" when removing the first seal. The fight will only happen if they answer their cues incorrectly - again, this can only happen once.

The last two mobs can be found in the Court of Harmony, in a small pond south of the teleporter.

    Where to buy hilts

Elevation materials can be purchased from Paimon store using Starglitter and Dust. Its assortment is updated every month, which makes this in-game store a good source of resources. Per month you can buy:

    • Ruined Hilt x16 – for one piece you will have to pay 5 star dust.
    • Split hilt x12 – for one piece you will have to pay 15 stardust.
    • Still-Smoldering Hilt x8 – for one piece you will have to pay 2 star shine.

    How to create hilts

Thanks to Alchemy, you can transform low-level materials into resources of higher rarity. To do this, you will only need to use a little mora and an Alchemist’s Crafting Bench (located in all capitals of Teyvat).

Recipes for creating fins are as follows:

    • Ruined Hilt x3 + 50 Mora = Split Hilt x1
    • Splintered Hilt x3 + 125 Mora = Still-Smoldering Hilt x1

Don't forget that there are characters whose passive talents allow you to save on converting weapon elevation materials, such as the skill Sucrose And al-Haythamah give a 10 percent chance of creating an additional resource, and the passive Dori has a 25% chance of returning the used material.

    How to use hilts

These materials are required to upgrade the following types of weapons:

    • Crimson Moon’s Semblance (5 stars)

To fully ascend one 5-star weapon, you will need to spend 23 broken, 27 splintered, and 41 undying hilts.
