At the moment, it is needed to level up only one character - Wriothesley. However, even to raise just one hero you will need 168 pieces of these metal bugs, so you should prepare for their long-term farming and collect the required amount of materials in advance.

You can collect these miniature detectors with any heroes, but if you plan to seriously engage in their farming (that is, make not a 5-minute sortie, but arrange a real Into the Woods for 30-40 minutes), then we recommend taking several characters into your squad who will allow you to significantly reduce the time it takes to collect this wonder. How long does it take for the Miniature Detector to respawn?
As is the case with other types of local curiosities, these robobugs, once collected, are restored exactly after 48 hours real time. Therefore, after visiting the best places for farming, just wait a couple of days, and then follow these routes again or ask to go to your friends’ worlds.
Where to find Subdetection Unit in Genshin Impact
The official description states that Detection Sub-Units are miniature detectors developed by the Fontaine Research Institute to monitor various natural phenomena. They can now be found in the wild in the Research Center area. We also advise you to keep an interactive map of Fontaine in front of your eyes to better navigate the area.
In total in the region at one time you can find 72 bug. Next, you can familiarize yourself with the routes for farming this wonder.
Farm route 1
- Location: Liffey area.
- Quantity: 9.
Start your journey from the Archon statue. Right on the site where the monument stands, you will find four bugs.
Go down and follow the path in a northwest direction. Behind the Fatui camp, closer to the waterfall, two wonders fly above the fire.
Then climb up. Move towards the ruins of a round building. On its opposite sides above the table and the chest you can collect one insect each.
Approach the cliff next to the waterfall and fly to the islands located near the opposite shore. On the largest of them, above the boxes, about riddles with stabilizer the desired device flutters. Be careful: there are several dangerous Fatui operatives walking around.
Farm route 2
- Location: Eastern slope of Mon Esus.
- Quantity: 4.
Use the only teleporter located in this location and follow the road to the north. Two insects fly near the column to the left of the steps leading to the station.
Go to the back of the tower. Below, right behind the building, near an abandoned backpack, you will find two wonders.
Farm route 3
- Location: North-west of the Institute of Kinetic Energy.
- Quantity: 5.
From the teleporter located on the mountain, go down in a western direction. One bug will crawl around the pipes located behind the ruins. If you go down a little south along the tropics, you will find a second insect near a large iron piece.
From the fast travel point on the coast, go north. Near the gear with clusters of ore you will see a curiosity. To the south, under a tree, you will find another one. Then go in a southwest direction. Go up to the repair platform. On the right, near the toolbox, you will find a detector.
Farm route 4
- Location: Around the New Fontaine Research Institute.
- Quantity: 17.
Teleport to the New Institute. There, climb to the top of the wall and go left. Eventually you will reach a protruding area where the bug will sit. Go down the outside of the fence. Another insect flies on the right side of the passage.
Continue along the perimeter. One level below you will see a detector. Go down again. Ahead, under the canopy, two more wonders will be waiting for you.
Then move north. There are two beetles hovering under the stone platform. Go to the tower in the northwest. Be careful: there are several Meks nearby. To the left of the building you will find the insect you need. Next, go northeast. On a cart next to tomb of the depths the detector is located.
This time go down the hill in a southerly direction. You will see a flying bug above the iron piece. Keep moving down. Near the cliff, two insects flutter above the boxes of bubbles.
Return to the New Institute and follow the path to the northwest. There is a detector flying to the right of the steps leading to the tower. To the right of the main entrance you will find another one. If you go up the stairs to the left of the station, you will see the desired device on the ledge.
Then head south towards the ruins. Behind them sits a detector. If you go northwest, you'll find another one near the stabilizer puzzle.
Farm route 5
- Location: southern coast of the Institute of Kinetic Energy region.
- Quantity: 3.
From the teleporter on the west coast, go south. Go to the stone pier. On its left side you will need to destroy the container for a beetle to appear. The second one will crawl at the very end of the bridge.
Move further along the coast. You will see a detector under the tree at the base of the cliff.
Farm route 6
- Location: northeastern part of the Institute of Kinetic Energy.
- Quantity: 6.
Go to hydrological data processing stations. Two beetles will be waiting for you inside.
From the easternmost fast travel point in this location, head south. There is an insect sitting on the boxes next to the meks. Then go to the opposite bank of the river. In the wreckage and to the left of it you will find three beetles.
Farm route 7
- Location: south of the Institute of Kinetic Energy.
- Quantity: 12.
From the southern teleport, fly to the ruins of the bridge. There are two bugs crawling there. Go down to the archive building. Under the northern platform you will find another insect.
Use the fast travel point near the boss arena Experimental Field Generator. On the same level as the teleporter you will see two bugs. Jump down. There you will find three more wonders.
Head west to the next Institute building. At the top of the execution department, near the bookshelves, two detectors will be waiting for you.
Go in the same direction. When entering the destroyed bridge, near the stabilizer puzzle, you will see two insects.
Farm route 8
- Location: abandoned production site.
- Quantity: 2.
If you walk from the geode mine teleport towards the Meropid Fortress, you will find two curiosities. You can get into this dungeon only after completing the task "An Eye for an Eye".
Farm route 9
- Location: Kuzel's workshop.
- Quantity: 7.
The next route is in the dungeon. The entrance location is indicated below. You will be able to fully open the workshop area while completing the task "Road to the Singularity".
In the first room you will find two bugs. Then take the elevator down. Another insect flies in the opened passage. Go further along the corridor. When you reach a fork, turn left. Head to the opposite end of the room. Climb to the high ground with the bookshelves. There's a detector crawling around there.
Return to the fork, but this time take the right path. When it ends, jump down. Go to the lift to go down on it. Opposite the elevator, next to the gear, you will see a curiosity.
Continue moving through the passages, taking advantage of the air flow. When you reach a large room, go to the far right side. A wonder awaits you there. Return to the center of the room and drop down the hole in the floor to find the last bug in this dungeon.
Farm route 10
- Location: underwater ruins in the east of the Institute of Kinetic Energy.
- Quantity: 7.

Run along the passage until you reach a room with an optical apparatus. Not far from the entrance you will just see two bugs.
Go to the opposite end of the room. Near the remains of a stone wall, next to which meks roam, two more wonders will be waiting for you.
Go to the center of the room and go down. In the new room, two insects fly on the left near the portrait, and the last one crawls near the right column closer to the center of the hall.
Where to buy miniature detectors
For now impossible buy these insects or obtained from the expedition. You can get five beetles one time in the following way:
- Location: east of the Institute of Kinetic Energy.
From the teleporter, head east to Prototype of original abilities. Go into the hilichurl hut, which is located a little away from the others. Destroy the wooden boxes on the left side. Five detectors will fall out from there.
Also, a small amount of beetles can be obtained from character letters and test runs, but of course these methods will not replace ordinary farming.
