In Genshin Impact the best teams are made up of characters that pair perfectly with each other. There are several rules that will help you build a great squad build that can handle any opponent. Below we will consider them in detail and indicate the most effective assemblies to date.
Rule 1 - Combination of the elements
Understanding how different elements fit together is an important part of the game. When combined, each element will give a different effect. Superconductivity, for example, deals additional damage and reduces the enemy's resistance to physical damage, making it very useful in groups that deal significant physical damage.
On the other hand, "Elemental Reaction: Overloaded" (Overload) and "Charged" (Electro-charged) do not have additional bonuses, but they deal huge elemental damage, so they are great for element-oriented teams. Below we will consider in detail all the elements and their combinations.
Elemental Effects
Each element in Genshin Impact has a different effect on your enemies.
- Absorbing Storm (Electro) - Continuously drains a Charge Up.
- Slow Water (Hydro) – Increases the duration of the cooldown (recovery) of skills.
- Smoldering Flames (Pyro) – Deals fixed damage continuously.
- Compacted Ice (Cryo) - Increases stamina consumption.
Elemental Interaction
Combining different elements in combat is the Key to success in Genshin Impact.
- Elemental Reaction: Burning = Dendro + Pyro: Deals fire damage over a period of time.
- Crystallize = Geo + Cryo/Electro/Hydro/Pyro: Creates a Elemental Reaction: Crystallize that will act as a shield when picked up.
- Charged = Electro + Hydro: Deals electricity damage over a period of time.
- Elemental Reaction: Frozen = Cryo + Hydro: The target turns into ice.
- Melting = Cryo + Pyro: Deals additional damage.
- Elemental Reaction: Overloaded = Electro + Pyro: Deals fire damage in an area.
- Elemental Reaction: Superconduct = Cryo + Electro: Deals cold damage in an area and reduces the target's resistance to physical damage by 50%.
- Elemental Reaction: Swirl = Anemo + Cryo/Electro/Hydro/Pyro: Deals additional elemental damage and applies an area effect.
- Steam = Hydro + Pyro: Deals additional damage.
We also recommend you read the guide based on the principle of elemental mastery, which can greatly increase the damage of the above elemental reactions.
Elemental Resonance
When you have a full group, you will receive additional effects corresponding to the types of elements available in the team.
- Geo Durability (requires Geo x2) – Increases resistance to interrupting skills. When the Achievement: Hero is protected by a shield, his attack damage is increased by 15%.
- Pyro's Devotion (requires Pyro x2) - Cold debuff lasts 40% less time. Increases attack level by 25%.
- Hydro Heal (requires Hydro x2) – Fire debuff lasts 40% less time. Increases healing effect by 30%.
- Anemo's Agility (requires Anemo x2) – Reduces stamina cost by 15%. Increases movement speed by 10%. Reduces skill cooldown time by 5%.
- Electro Energy (requires Electro x2) - Water debuff lasts 40% less time. Superconductivity, Elemental Reaction: Overloaded, and Electrical Charge have a 100% chance to create an Electrical Elemental Particle (Cooldown: 5 seconds).
- Cryo Destruction (requires Cryo x2) – Electricity debuff lasts 40% less time. Increases Critical Strike Chance by 15% when attacking enemies that are Frozen or Cold affected.
- Threads of Protection (requires any 4 unique elements) - Increases resistance to all elements by 15%.
Rule 2 - Obtaining Energy
Dealing damage, destroying enemies, and using elemental skills (E) on enemies will generate orbs that restore energy to your characters, allowing them to use elemental blasts (Q). Some orbs have an element attached to them and will give more energy to characters of the same element.
For this reason, it is recommended to have two characters of the same element in the team, and one of them should be your main damage dealer (causing maximum damage). This effect, combined with the bonus you get through Elemental Resonance, will greatly increase the strength of your party.
Rule 3 - Roles
Conventionally, all characters in the game can be divided into 3 main roles: main damage dealer (DPS), secondary damage dealer and support.
Basic DPS
It is this character who will deal the main damage to your opponents and fill in the gaps in the attack of the team with the help of his normal and charged attacks or quickly restored skills when the rest of the squad members have skills on cooldown. Therefore, most of the time you will play for these heroes.
Below is a list of all the main damage dealers and their effectiveness: S+-ranks are the strongest, and C-ranks are the weakest.
Minor DPS
An additional source of damage and your primary elemental reaction trigger. Usually the latter are implemented through elemental skills (E) and elemental explosions (Q) of characters. The strongest heroes in this case are those who require very little cooldown time and whose abilities are saved when switching to another fighter. "Guoba Attack" by Xiangling and "Nightrider" by Fischl are prime examples of such skills.
The ideal team should include a secondary damage dealer with the same element as the main one, as well as an additional DPS, the element of which will allow you to create powerful elemental reactions based on the element of the leading DD. Below is a list of the best characters of this type.
Support
All healers, buffers and controllers can be included in this category. When going through the main story, we advise you to have at least one healer in your team - this will give you the opportunity to maintain the health of your characters without resorting to food. Healers are also difficult to manage in the difficult levels of the Abyss. In other cases, you can take a support character without healing skills.
However, you can maximize the effectiveness of any character so that the team suits your needs. You don't even need to have 2 heroes of the same element if you don't feel like it. You will simply have a reduced rate of energy recovery, but you may get another advantage that will be decisive in a particular situation. Therefore, if you like some character, then you don’t need to immediately throw him out of the group, chasing perfect numbers.

- Great for both bosses and group battles.
- Qiqi is responsible for healing the squad.
In addition to increasing attack power from elemental resonance, this team can also reduce the resistance of opponents using the Klee skill. Plus, having Qiqi in the team allows you to use the elemental combination "melting".
"Paid" universal command

- Powerful natural reactions.
- Qiqi is responsible for healing the squad.
- Venti can gather enemies in one place and create powerful whirlwinds.

Best Teams to Explore
Team for general exploration of the world
Main advantages:
- Excellent mobility when moving around locations.
- The composition of the team is great for fighting different mobs.
The idea of this team is to ensure that you have maximum mobility when exploring the game world. Mona will allow you to quickly move through the water, and Venti will be able to accelerate climbing thanks to the air push. The Resonance of Jean and Venti will reduce the stamina drain. The Keqing skill makes it possible to quickly change position and get to hard-to-reach locations.
Team for pharma materials
Main advantages:
- Qiqi marks Liyue materials on the mini-map.
- Klee marks Mondstadt's materials on the mini-map.
- Ningguang marks all the ores on the mini-map.
- Venti simplifies collection geocules and anemoculae due to the air push.
With this command, markers will appear on your mini-map with the location of all the ores and materials hidden in the game world. Venti will allow you to get to hard-to-reach locations.
Best Dungeon Commands
Cecilia Garden
Main advantages:
- Constant damage per second with many strong elemental combos against hydro enemies.
- Bennett heals the group and provides elemental resonance.
The team perfectly interacts with each other and is able to apply several elemental combinations, cycling through them. Venti can easily control the crowd, which will make it easier to use skills.
Midsummer Courtyard
Main advantages:
- Constant and high DPS thanks to Dilyuk.
- Collects enemies in one place thanks to Venti.
- Barbara is in charge of healing the squad.
This domain severely punishes "superconductive damage", making Cryo characters not the best choice for healing. This command maximizes Diluc's strength, allowing him to "overload" Electro Slimes.
Valley of Remembrance
Main advantages:
- Constant DPS.
- Can easily cause "melting" through Dilyuk and "superconductive damage" through Fischl.
- Qiqi is responsible for healing the squad.
All of the enemies in this dungeon have no elements, giving you free rein when it comes to character selection and combinations.
Forsaken Rift
Main advantages:
- Attack power increased by 25% due to the elemental resonance of Klee and Bennett.
- Can easily cause "melting" or "superconductive damage".
- Bennett heals the squad while Venti controls the crowd.
This team focuses on dealing elemental damage to enemies. Klee will be the main fighter supported by Bennett's resonance and buff. Additional damage and debuff from Fischl and finally crowd control from Venti.
Stormterror
Main advantages:
- Attack power increased by 25% due to the elemental resonance of Klee and Dilyuk.
- Use Klee and Diluc to deal high damage to the boss when he is down.
- Use Fischl and Oz to push the boss down.
- Qiqi is responsible for healing the squad.
Since there will only be a few moments in the Storm Dread fight when you can hit him, you will need to deal maximum damage to him. With Dilyuk and Klee, this will be relatively easy to do. Fischl will be able to knock the enemy to the ground.
Hidden Palace of Lianshan Formula
Main advantages:
- Attack power increased by 25% due to the elemental resonance of Klee and Dilyuk.
- Can easily cause "melting" through Dilyuk and "superconductive damage" through Fischl.
- Qiqi is responsible for healing the squad.
A high DPS team that is able to easily deploy elemental combos against cryo enemies. After applying "Superconductive Damage", Diluc's physical attacks will deal even more damage!
Gu Yun's realm
Main advantages:
- Keqing Fast Attacks.
- Zhongli lets you control the crowd
- Noelle is responsible for healing the squad and destroying the shields.
This dungeon will penalize you for using Pyro characters, so it's recommended to assemble said team as it provides the fastest way to destroy Cryomag shields.
Taishan Mansion
Main advantages:
- Huge Hydro damage.
- Additional damage from Xingqiu.
- Qiqi is responsible for healing.
Tartaglia is one of the strongest Hydro characters. This is further enhanced by Elemental Resonance and a buff from Xingqiu. All this allows you to create a devastating combo, especially in this dungeon, since all the enemies here are related to Pyro.
Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern
Main advantages:
- Constant DPS. Thanks to Monet, you can call "steam". Use Diluc to defeat Void Cryo Mage
With this group, you can easily take down the Noelle: Protector of the Void Mages within the dungeon. This is especially useful as without these elements it will be harder to break their shields. Venti Elemental Burst prevents the Void Mage from restoring his shields.
Hidden Palace of Guizang Formula
Main advantages:
- Constant DPS.
- Several elemental combinations.
This group is versatile in the sense that it can trigger multiple elemental combos, taking out all types of enemies. This is important here as the enemies have no elemental resistances.
Wu Wan Hidden Palace
Main advantages:
- Constant DPS.
- Thanks to Monet, you can call "steam". Use Qiqi to induce "melting".
With Hydro and Cryo on your team, clearing this dungeon will be much easier. Just make sure you always put "steam" on your enemies, especially Void Pyro Mages.
Peak of Vindagnyr
This unit will be able to easily "melt" enemies with their Pyro skills and further increase their damage by inflicting "superconductive damage" on them. Jean or Qiqi will allow you to heal your group without any problems. It is not recommended to take Barbara, as she can easily be frozen.
